About the Opportunity

This position will support the operational, budgeting, and reporting functions for FE Products providing accurate and actionable analysis for the business unit. The role will collaborate with the operations, products and marketing teams to ensure that the business unit effectively communicates the forecasts, results and variance. This individual must develop effective relationships to gather information, develop thoughtful conclusions, and influence decision making.


It reports to the Supervisor, Revenue and Cash Management and is located at the Corporate Office in Akron, Ohio.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist FEP in researching and developing profitable product and services.
  • Initiate or support projects that improve processes or increase visibility to the underlying data, sales trends and pricing impacts.
  • Assist with the coordination of a timely and accurate closing, budgeting, & forecasting cycle for operations, products and sales related aspects.  
  • Maintain billing and accounting controls related to FEP Operations.
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly operational result and analysis against forecasting for products.
  • Work alongside the products teams to develop P/L’s and pro forma’s to determine profitability of products.
  • Perform reviews of new and existing products to determine impact to the business operations, controls, and systems. 
  • Support product management through financial reporting to grow margin.
  • Drive best practices and consistency in reporting across segments.
  • Identify key drivers of Actual vs Forecast variances.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand the use and value of information currently produced.
  • Work with IT to translate business requirements in creating IT system functional specification documents, and create test plans for system implementations and upgrades
  • Work cross-functionally across FE with employees at various levels to develop effective working relationships and achieve organizational objectives



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields required
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work experience required.  Relevant work experience will include general work with accounting close, financial reporting, SAP transactions, and/or project management.
  • Knowledge of Qlikview report development
  • Proficient in FirstEnergy’s Budgeting and Internal Reporting Processes
  • Understanding of UIPlanner
  • Knowledge and understanding of FE/FEP business operations
  • Knowledge of FE’s ERP system (SAP)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Background knowledge of the electric industry, deregulated electric markets and consumer products markets
  • Project management experience for small to medium size projects
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional and consistent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross functionally
  • Questioning attitude and willingness to make recommendations when process and system improvements are needed
  • Positive attitude and proactive behavior
  • Strong organization skills with ability to multi task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word).  Working knowledge of database query tools and related enterprise resource planning (ERP) packages.
