About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This position supports the entire maintenance and enhancement lifecycle as it relates to Deregulation and Customer Service Solutions.   The business units supported include Supplier Service and Customer Service Controls.   This position provides expertise for system design, configuration, testing, implementation, and production support. Additionally, this position works closely with their business units and coordinates with other IT groups and Vendor resources, as needed, to provide the necessary guidance to ensure the seamless operation and enhancement of the business units we they support. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive and participate in the configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of Supplier Services Operations while adhering to all controls/procedures for data and application changes
    • Requirements Analysis: Partner with business clients to conduct workshops to obtain project requirements to ensure timely development of quality, accurate specifications, including providing level of effort estimates.
    • Design: Analyze and interpret business requirements to produce an architecture and technical design that meets the business need, including system integration requirements.
    • Construct: Work across FirstEnergy IT and with Vendors to configure a solution that adheres to FirstEnergy’s overall IT standards.  Anticipate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
    • Test: Develop and execute detailed unit test plans. Advise and support the business unit in integration testing.  Recommend performance and/or stress testing approach, if applicable.
    • Implementation:  Follow segregation of duties and proper documentation for all change requests. Provide clear documentation and production support of implemented functionality, including updating Disaster Recovery and Desktop Procedures, as needed.

 

  • Production support:  Supporting Technical systems used by Supplier Services and Customer Service Controls to ensure successful day-to-day business functions.
    • Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving problems reported via Help Desk or directly from business clients. Collaborating with other FirstEnergy IT groups and Vendors to resolve issues, as needed. Identifying root cause and providing feedback to business clients.
    • Maintaining reliability of critical systems by providing 24x7 production support to the business clients, as needed.
    • Adhering to all FirstEnergy Cyber Security Standards.
  • Support of the current Deregulation and Supplier Service solutions, including On Demand, Gentran and FE Forward initiatives
  • Support of current mailing software, including ISIS Papyrus, Postal One & Finalist
  • An employee hired at a Level III or IV, will be expected to perform the above responsibilities with greater proficiency and in a more independent manner. 

 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, a related degree, along with 2+ years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 4+ years of related experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience maintaining and enhancing complex software applications through configuration and/or integration
  • Related experience includes, but not limited to:
    • Software development and integration experience with i.e., Oracle, MS SQL, etc.
    • Experience supporting vendor developed enterprise systems
  • Willingness to share knowledge and undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, with the aptitude to learn quickly
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to translate complex concepts clearly and concisely to a non-technical audience
  • High level of accountability for producing a quality work product based on established priorities and timelines
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, and be available for call out and after-hours support
  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, as well as work independently and productively, with the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively, but also able to effectively collaborate and build relationships in a virtual environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Quickly learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology
  • Organizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task and meet schedules
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work with complex systems containing many moving parts.
  • Knowledge of configuration management, change management, incident management, and project management concepts and tools

 

Qualifications at the IT Application Configuration Analyst III level include all the above plus: 

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience maintaining and enhancing complex software applications through configuration and/or integration

 

Qualifications at the IT Application Configuration Analyst IV level include all the above plus: 

  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience maintaining and enhancing complex software applications through configuration and/or integration
