The Application Configuration Analyst B supports FirstEnergy's Control Center with a team of analysts and engineers in support of the Energy Management System (EMS) and other related applications. These systems are critical, real-time, 7x24 applications that controls and monitor FirstEnergy transmission system and generation assets.


The position is responsible for the broad configuration, administration, and support of FirstEnergy’s business applications.


Perform the following analyst function:

  • Designing, developing, testing and implementing reports and dashboards that utilize underlying data sources.
  • Facilitating the configuration change management process for assigned devices
  • Participating in business analysis activities to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements
  • Providing support, as required, to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports
  • Managing application lifecycles, including the testing and commissioning, and administration of IT-managed applications.
  • Creating and distributing periodic reports
  • Responding to requests for custom coded SQL data exports






  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Company sites, work flexible hours, and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7x24 operations)]
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Ability to effectively use standard PC software, including MS Windows and Office products, web-based systems, e-mail, relational database query tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
  • Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and plan work, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.




  • Familiarity with relevant utility operations (transmission, distribution, generation)
  • Operating knowledge of relational databases
  • Familiarity with scripting languages
  • Familiarity with enterprise reporting tools and infrastructure
  • Familiarity with OSI PI application functionality
  • QlikView report design experience
