The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.  This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.

 

This position reports to the Supervisor of Real-Time Networks, as part of the OT Networks group.  The primary responsibility is to act in support of the Ohio Grid Modernization and other regional Smart Grid projects, ensuring accurate tracking of our Field Area Network assets within the IT asset management system.  This role requires regular entries into work management and scheduling applications to track completion of work tasks, developing and running reports to measure progress, meeting with leadership to ensure updates are accurate and timely, and providing support for any additional project activities.  Additionally, this role will be involved in helping to plan and manage the ongoing operation, maintenance, and upgrades of over 7,200 in-service FAN communication devices.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Prepare reports in support of grid modernization projects using data exported from applications into Excel
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools to interact with project personnel within IT and other departments
  • Create and edit a large volume of work orders associated with the projects with a low error rate
  • Enter a large volume of technical data into an asset management system with a low error rate
  • Ensure technical standards and regulatory requirements including Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) are followed
  • Confirm accuracy of assets in GIS applications to support QA testing and documentation of project progress
  • Participate in meetings throughout the FirstEnergy service territory
  • Interact with Operating Companies (Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison, and Cleveland Electric Illuminating) employees and major vendors associated with the grid modernization projects
  • Understand and follow all applicable policies & procedures with a low rate of error

 

Qualifications include:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Business, or related field. In lieu of a degree, 2 years of related work experience required.
    • Related work experience includes, but is not limited to: Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook), data entry, Service Now.
  • Must have extensive skills in MS-Excel including the ability to use VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP and other functions as well as Pivot Tables (Note: This will be tested during interviews)
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications MS-Word, MS-Outlook and MS-Teams (Note: This will be tested during interviews)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong phone communication skills and etiquette
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to assist with work management
  • Must have excellent internal customer service skills and attitude (friendly, courteous, helpful)

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation to be able to travel to FE company locations

 

Preferred knowledge includes:

  • Knowledge of Change Management processes in an IT function
  • Knowledge of radio systems (cellular, 700/900 MHz Radio, mesh technology)
  • Knowledge of field area networks and SCADA communications in a substation and distribution (pole-top) environment

 

Qualifications at the Level II include all of the above plus:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Business, or related field with 2 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, 4 years of related work experience required.
  • General working knowledge of relevant work experience

 

Qualifications at the Level III include all of the above plus:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Business, or related field with 4 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of related work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of relevant work experience
