About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

 

This position reports to the Supervisor, OTCM Administration (Operational Technology Configuration Management) and is located at the General Office in Akron, Ohio 44308.

 

The OTCM Admin group operates as a Transmission department supporting the organization by implementing the enterprise tools, processes and procedures necessary to demonstrate FirstEnergy’s compliance with regulatory requirements.  In addition, this group is responsible for enterprise process alignment, systems integration, data integrity, reporting, and process performance monitoring, etc.  This position provides the successful candidate with exciting growth opportunities in several technologies related to energy delivery, configuration management and device testing.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
  • Engaging in open, honest, direct, and ongoing conversation amongst team members
  • Analyzing complex issues and develop actionable recommendations; ensuring decisions are based on data and sound reasoning
  • Proposing new solutions to improve tools, processes and procedures to insure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to applicable FE standards
  • Developing and documenting business processes and requirements as needed to insure consistent, sustainable operations of the OTCM systems
  • Developing, documenting and executing test cases and scripts to validate system functionality
  • Performing maintenance and administration of OTCM systems and interfaces
  • Providing OTCM data support (including query and reporting)
  • Working with vendor(s) to coordinate system improvements and upgrade
  • Coordinating and executing system releases & maintenance outages (i.e. change control, communication, testing, etc.)
  • Providing user training on Powerbase, RTS and related data systems, including functionality, processes, and roles and responsibilities
  • Working with approximately 800+ FE OTCM users
  • Supporting system users and provide day-to-day help desk support.
  • Supporting the Emergency Plan through participating in the assigned storm duties including hazard response and hazard dispatch activities

 
Qualifications:

 

  • Associate or Bachelor degree with a minimum 4 years related work experience is preferred.  In lieu of a degree, 7 years of direct, related experience will be considered. Relevant work experience will include strong analytical skills with moderate technical ability and a strong customer service focus
  • Experience in developing conceptual and detail design for application software, technical analysis/documentation, development of use cases/scenarios, and application testing is required
  • Proven effective leadership skills to communicate with and direct work of others that will ensure safety and produce satisfactory work
  • Excellent customer relations skills and strong communication skills to make clear, accurate and concise oral and written reports
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and to provide excellent customer service, as well as work independently
  • Ability to manage a dynamic work environment with travel periodically between multiple local work locations and occasional overnight stay required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to various levels in the organization
  • Excellent analytical abilities involving complex problems; exercise sound judgment; detail oriented
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word

 
Preferred:

  • Experience in Energy Delivery (ED) transmission/distribution systems or in general utility business operations
  • Knowledge of Energy Delivery work management processes and procedures
  • Familiarity of transmission substation equipment and related attributes and configuration
  • Established relationships with internal FE departments a plus.
  • Familiarity with some or all – Powerbase, RTS, Cascade / QlikView / Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA) / CrossBow / SAP.
  • Familiarity working with databases
