About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

 

This position will reside within the Project Management organization and will support the budgeting, scheduling, and project / construction management of FirstEnergy Transmission’s (FET) capital portfolio.  The successful candidate will assist with the systematic identification of capital portfolio opportunities, and the prioritization of such opportunities in a multi-year capital portfolio.  The analyst will also implement and maintain reports, processes, procedures and controls associated with project management such that an active year portfolio of projects is delivered safely, timely and within budget.

 

This position will be both challenging and rewarding due to its involvement with the execution of individual projects associated with capital portfolios that will reach a value of up to $1.2B on a year-over-year basis.  It will provide assistance to the Project Management and Construction Management organizations while they execute the portfolio of projects.  This position reports to the Manager, Project Management Controls and will be located at the Corporate office in Akron, Ohio.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining project performance reports and analytics that provide business intelligence for decision-making.
  • Understanding and communicating project information via standardized and ADHOC reports.
  • Implementing and maintaining project controls that address subjects such as project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Contributing toward project success through involvement in all aspects of the project lifecycle management process (PLMP).
  • Recommending and implementing process improvements to increase efficiencies in reporting and analytics.
  • Recommending and implementing solutions to highly complex issues and assignments.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures that establish or improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Project Management processes such as schedule and cost management, change management, resource management and project close-out. Provide procedure training.
  • Providing training and mentoring to lower level employees.
  • Efficiently and independently managing time and priorities, and updating management with applicable work status and progress. 
  • Actively seeking ways to build, challenge, and add value within the scope of assignments. 
  • Managing diverse projects, processes, and programs with little / no supervision. 

 

Qualifications for the Staff Business Analyst level include:

  • Four year degree in Computer Information Systems, Business, Project Management, Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 13 years of professional work experience required.  In lieu of a degree, 15 years of related experience will be considered.  This experience must include data reporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, along with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.
  • Experience designing, organizing, developing and implementing Business Reporting solutions.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to aid in working across the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Primavera P6 18, QlikView, SharePoint, Unifier, OPPM and SAP experience is a plus.
  • Abiity to make significant contributions toward improving programs and process effectiveness.
  • Six Sigma or other Process improvement experience.
  • Must possess advanced analytical skills and be highly organized.
  • Skilled in the development, collection, organization, and analysis of information from a variety of sources to develop reports, providing information on backlog and productivity.
  • Must be able to lead project teams.
  • Must have strong relationships and effective interpersonal communication skills to aid in working across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be highly proficient with PC software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with database query tools (QlikView, MS Access, SAP).
  • Results focus with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, strong bias for action, is a self-starter.
  • Ability to work with other departments to provide assistance and resolve problems.
  • Project and process management skills.
  • Related work experience and knowledge of Transmission is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 5-15% of the time based upon program needs.
