About the Opportunity

This is an open position within FirstEnergy Solutions (FES), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp  [FES]

 

Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will be primarily focused on handling the Company's nuclear and fossil legal procurement needs (Supply Chain). This position will work across the various Company business units. The Attorney will be the primary contact with Supply Chain for reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts with vendors in the procurement of products and services. This attorney will also be responsible for managing outside counsel retained to assist in such tasks.  Additionally, this individual will support litigation arising or related to vendor issues.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Analyze legal and business issues of the Company and develop recommendations 
  • Develop close working relationship with Supply Chain organization and partner to achieve business objectives
  • Coordinate with business units to develop and maintain standard contract terms and templates
  • Review, markup/draft (from templates and original drafting), negotiate and close, commercial contracts, including master services agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, and other other contracts that support the Company's business units
  • Provide rapid, accurate, and thorough turnaround for routine contracts
  • Suggest process improvement ideas to improve inefficiencies in the contracting process and contribute to other process improvement initiatives
  • Support contract development, review, approval routing and execution
  • As needed, conduct meetings with stakeholders to communicate the progress of ongoing legal matters with all parties involved
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
     

Formal Education & Certification

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law program
  • Member in good standing of the Ohio state bar

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience
  • High degree of professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Well organized and efficient; able to prioritize, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines promptly and under minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with contract law, regulatory compliance, and licensing
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, counterparties and business colleagues
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant statues, regulations, and laws related to the business
  • Experience with the electric power generation industry preferred
