About the Opportunity


This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.  [SC00]


The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.  This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Build/Support of fast formulas for Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud solution.
  • Develop/Enforce governance for Oracle HCM Cloud solution fast formulas, including the development of needed formulas as identified by the Human Resources business.
  • Understanding of core HR processes around absence, payroll, compensation, talent management, recruiting and compliance to ensure technology solutions can be implemented to meet all current and emerging business requirements
    • Previous experience and technical knowledge of Absence, Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits specific fast formulas
    • Sound knowledge of concepts: element configuration, voluntary deductions, retro, arrears, accruals, work schedules, plan enrollment, benefits coverage, etc.
    • Solid knowledge of Oracle Cloud HCM table structures & BIP
    • Strong knowledge of commonly used fast formula types from prior implementations
    • Troubleshooting/debugging fast formula issues and providing resolutions or recommending alternatives
    • Understanding of US payroll concepts such as 401K plans, IRS limits, etc
    • Creating technical specification documentation
    • Creating and executing comprehensive unit test plans, developing test cases, assisting with integration, and completing system test plans
    • Unit, integration, performance and stress testing support for application enhancements, upgrades and patches
    • Developing technical designs and estimates to meet the business needs while supporting the company’s overall IT direction and standards
    • Solving complex problems and troubleshoot functionality for issue identification
    • Providing production support of implemented functionality
  • Enable the HR functions to optimize business outcomes using Oracle Cloud HCM by acting as a liaison between the business and IT
  • Provide business process support through maintenance of fast formulas
  • Participate in the review of new functionality for each system release, testing and implementation
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to fast formulas and collaborate with HR business unit on strategic direction of current processes
  • Documenting processes/procedures and specifications for peers.
  • Working independently or with business analysts to support requirements definition and test scenario identification.
  • Consistently delivering high quality results.


Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, or a related degree along with 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of related experience.
    • Related experience includes, but is not limited to: hands-on experience working as an IT technical professional supporting Oracle Cloud HCM fast formulas.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Company sites, work flexible hours, and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7x24 operations) when needed
  • Analytical and technical skills to resolve problems and think creatively.
  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, with the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Ability to learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations to various audiences, the ability to express difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively but also able to work in a virtual environment (working with remote co-workers using virtual technologies).
  • Ability to meet established priorities and schedules, and willing to undertake assignments involving multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide software solutions and supporting entire software development life cycle
  • Preferred experience with utility industry knowledge and software application configuration
