About the Opportunity


This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.  [SC00]


This position can be filled in Reading, PA; Greensburg, PA or Akron, OH 


The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Utilize spreadsheets and Microsoft Lists to organize information
  • Manipulate spreadsheets within Microsoft Excel and provide reports back to leadership (i.e. pivot tables, charts, etc.)
  • Extract and manipulate data using various tools and systems.
  • Update systems (UIPlanner, etc.) with appropriate budget and forecasting data.
  • Analyzing data, interpreting results and assisting clients with reporting of information (QlikView).
  • Contribute to improving current work processes.
  • Assist with various ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Learn how technology supports various business processes and disciplines.
  • Work effectively with leaders and collaborate with employees across the company to drive consistent processes
  • Perform month-end reconciliation among multiple data sources
  • Deliver effective client support through the investigation of client issues.


Qualifications at the Level II include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science; in lieu of a degree, a minimum of two years relevant work experience.
    • Relevant Experience includes: manipulation of data in Excel (e.g. using formulas and pivot tables), IT forecasting, budgeting and/or variance analysis reporting process.
  • Strong analytical, decision making, organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds. Ability to create and present formal and informal presentations at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting ability including analytical skills to resolve technical, and business problems.

Preferred qualifications at the Level II include:

  • Ability to run QlikView reports and perform budget entries into UIPlanner, the standard budgeting software at FirstEnergy
  • Ability to lead change, identify and implement process improvements, and think creatively.
  • Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service.
  • Proven team player with leadership abilities, contributes to team goals, encourages and supports other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and plan work, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines. Project management experience is a plus.
  • Willingness and propensity for continual growth, willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects.  Ability to adapt and change quickly.
  • Highly motivated; experience in working independently with a high level of productivity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Comfortable with using standard FirstEnergy computer software – Microsoft Office 2013 Suite.  Aptitude for using these technologies to accomplish work assignments.
