About the Opportunity


This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.  [SC00]


The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.  This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois or New York at this time.


This position within the IT Central Security Administration group will perform daily IT Security administration for all major client accessible platforms and supported application software. This position is responsible for the daily provisioning/deprovisioning of security to IT Systems. 


Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring adherence to Cyber Security Policy, FERC, CIP, SOx, security standards/procedures/guidelines in all daily activities; following Central Security Admin procedures for all requests
  • Independently process client requests for Active Directory based application access, SAP position-based security administration requests and RAAD requests for CIP/BCSI access
  • Assess security requirements and process adjustments for transfers and separations  
  • Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.  
  • Interface with Compliance, Cyber Security, Security Operations, and Application Support Teams to identify security access configuration requirements and procedures for appropriately granting/removing security access. 
  • Interact with the user community to understand their security needs and process requests appropriately.  
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation 24x7, once every 6 weeks, after onboarded to team and comfortable


An employee hired at the Administrator II or III level will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner.  Further, the Administrator II or III level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.


Qualifications at the Level I include:

  • Associates Degree or greater in a related field. In Lieu of a degree, 2+ years related experience.
    •  Related experience includes, but is not limited to: experience in an IT related field, identity management, desktop support, service desk.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to details 
  • Ability to read and accurately follow procedures in a timely manner.  
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).  
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to be friendly, courteous, and helpful towards internal customers 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn. 
  • Ability to work independently with an understanding of core teamwork skills. 


Qualifications at the Job Title Level II include all the above plus:

  • Associates Degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience. In lieu of a degree, 4+ years of related experience.
  • General working knowledge of related experience.
  • Knowledge and usage of Active Directory. 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM).  
  • Knowledge and usage of SAP-related administration tools and functions. 
  • Strong understanding of information privacy and confidentiality issues.  
  • Precision in processing high volume of client requests in a wide variety of IT platforms and applications 


Qualifications at the Job Title Level III include all the above plus:

  • Associated Degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience. In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of related experience.
  • Extensive usage and understanding of Active Directory. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) and its function; security groups, distribution groups, role-based access, configuration item custodians. 
  • Previous experience and usage of SAP-related administration tools and functions. 
  • Working knowledge of RAAD, SecVault, xMatters
