The position is within the Ethics & Compliance group and reports to the VP and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. It can be in OH, PA, NJ, MD, or WV, with travel as needed.

 

The Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Training & Communications Manager is responsible for leading the team that will execute the E&C training & communications strategies.  Responsibilities include establishing the near- and long-term plans for E&C training and communications, working collaboratively with other FirstEnergy leaders, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the company’s diverse workforce is appropriately trained, and driving consistent and engaging E&C messaging.

 

The Ethics & Compliance (E&C) group works to strengthen the company’s ethics and compliance profile for FirstEnergy’s operating companies. The team interacts with various functions to promote trust and respect, manage ethics and compliance risks, promote ethical business conduct, develop policies, procedures, and controls, and manage complaints and concerns.  The team also performs risk assessments, conducts investigations, coordinates training, and manages ethics and compliance communications. This position will be expected to interact with all levels of the organization and lead a team of Compliance Specialists focused training and communications.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing day-to-day leadership for Training & Communication initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Overseeing the development and build-out of the Ethics & Compliance Training & Communications program
  • Overseeing the build-out of Training & Communications policies and procedures
  • Promoting company-wide awareness of the Ethics & Compliance Program
  • Developing process to track the efficacy of training and communications with surveys/pulse checks
  • Creating and socializing resources to increase understating of E&C risks and best practices
  • Utilizing data and analytics to inform training and communication strategy
  • Working cross-functionally to understand existing and emerging risks to create and maintain fit-for-purpose training and communications content as obligations and risks evolve over time
  • Identifying the need for, and development of, ad hoc training
  • Working across FE operating companies and business units to manage the development and delivery of relevant employee training, including working with external vendor(s) and FirstEnergy’s Learning and Development team to develop interactive, effective E&C training programs
  • Documenting training activities and maintaining appropriate training records
  • Tracking and reporting training completion rates and ensuring completion of attestation forms
  • Collaborating across Ethics & Compliance leadership and with the Board to develop tailored communications for employees and external parties that aligns with FirstEnergy’s values, goals, and standards
  • Identifying various channels of communication to socialize key messages internally and with external parties
  • Drafting and delivering regular status reports to leadership

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Language, Communications, Education, or related discipline is required.
  • Minimum ten years relevant work experience in roles of increasing responsibility is required. Relevant experience includes program development/training, communications plan development, curriculum design, campaign design and execution, or similar
  • Able to develop and implement process improvements and efficiencies to improve work processes
  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of proficiency in organization, planning & project management
  • Able to build relationships and credibility across the organization
  • Pragmatic with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and provide guidance to team members
  • Experience with adult learning concepts preferred
  • Travel to Akron will be required if selected candidate is located outside of Akron
