About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Solutions (FES), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FES]

 

The Fleet Outage and Work Management Manager is responsible for driving improvement in outage preparation and execution across FES's fleet of power plants, and providing leadership in development of common practices, policies and methods to improve plant safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost and outage performance.

 

The resource will serve as the Corporate Functional Area Manager (CFAM) for outages.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Driving efforts that result in Fleet standardization, effectiveness and efficiency, and developing, maintaining and implementing standardized procedures.
  • Developing and managing databases to monitor fleet effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assessing assigned programs periodically, and trending and analyzing data.
  • Participating in industry groups and interacting with industry best plants and organizations to identify best practices, new technologies, industry trends and pending regulatory changes to position plants for continuous improvement. 
  • Benchmarking and reviewing and analyzing Operating Experiences for assigned programs.
  • Facilitating peer interactions and working teams to continuously review and recommend improvements
  • Participating in site evaluations and assessments. 
  • Ensuring activities are completed in accordance with standardized fleet practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicating expectations, priorities, and goals for staff, and providing leadership and guidance to various managers and functions involved in plant outage initiatives.
  • Driving continuous improvement in outage preparation and execution across the fleet.
  • Working with site outage managers to oversee and direct fleet outage-related activities consistent with FES policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Designing and developing departmental plans and fleet-wide outage strategies and identifying and helping to provide required support prior to and throughout fleet outages. 
  • Providing accountability for outage-related documentation and assessing the adequacy of planning strategies, systems, and documentation.
  • Monitoring the progress of fleet outages, identifying and helping to resolve problems, and participating in site evaluations and assessments.
  • Identifying and analyzing outage related data for trending, problem resolution and continuous improvement strategy implementation.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and/or outage support activities when assigned. 

 

Requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • Prior experience as an Outage Manager is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated prior supervisory/leadership experience
  • Holding or having previously held a Senior Reactor Operator’s (SRO) license or certification
  • Prior multi-departmental and multi-station experience
  • Prior nuclear industry exposure such as Institute of Nuclear Power Operators (INPO) assist visits and/or loanee assignments and industry committee representation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
