About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Solutions (FES), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.  [FES]

 

POSITION SUMMARY
Position will provide oversight to primary fossil fuel and reagent materials and services across the fossil fuel generation assets.  The Manager will collaborate with FES customers and suppliers to efficiently manage coal and reagent purchases, logistics, inventory management and reporting.  While primary fuel purchase agreements and commercial terms are negotiated for 2019, the Manager will play a key role in analyzing and establishing new agreements in 2020 and beyond. 

 

This position will provide leadership to plant personnel on leveraging spend with third party logistics providers, coordinating barge shipments and tracking inventory. The manager is responsible for developing and maintaining common processes across all sites and for developing and leading sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements.

 

The ideal candidate will have extensive fuel logistics and inventory experience in fossil power generation.

 

The position is located at the West Akron Campus in Akron, Ohio.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Results relating to: managing fuel and reagent supply, developing logistics strategies, setting invoice payments and communicating clear expectations between plant personnel and suppliers
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts and managing change.
  • Establishing and managing performance metrics aligned with business plans.
  • Ability to execute functional business plans and contribute to the overall functional strategies, both short-term and long-term
  • Development of 2-year fuel logistics strategy
  • Barge, rail logistics management, inventory management, planning, managing settlement processes, budgeting and reporting
  • Directing staff, conducting performance reviews and developmental plans as needed.

 
 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a related field required
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with operations resources and third party service providers
  • Identify and qualify opportunities to reduce costs
  • Lead and facilitate leadership and staff to implement and achieve operational improvements
  • Establish and achieve service level agreements with internal customers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operational and business performance drivers
  • Understanding of leading tools and solutions to support spend and inventory analytics
  • Experience in managing strategic supplier relationships
