Summary:

The Manager, Payroll is responsible for managing, supporting and overseeing the processes for paying exempt, non-exempt and bargaining employees, assuring accurate and compliant withholdings and compiling payroll information across a multi-state organization. Responsibilities include assuring timeliness and accurateness of time reporting, managing payroll preparation and submission; report generation and payroll records management.

 

The position is located at the West Akron Campus (WAC) in Akron, Ohio.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partners with ADP on payroll-related activities for the organization
  • Oversees, reviews and verifies accuracy of payroll, deductions, and payroll tax information, responding to payroll-related inquiries including but not limited to payroll deductions, accruals, employment verifications and resolves employee issues.
  • Coordinates ADP timekeeping and payroll systems. Analyzes and implements best practices, recommending and supporting system enhancements as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws and internal policies, establishing and monitoring appropriate controls, policies and procedures within payroll.
  • Collaborates with business unit partners, such as Accounting, Human Resources, IT, and Legal and maintains accurate records and prepare reports as required.
  • Recommends and implements changes in methods and procedures to improve efficiency of the payroll function.
  • Oversees preparation of month-end, year-end and government reports.
  • Develops, manages, and implements payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Assures third party providers conform to organizational policies, procedures and government regulations.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required.  Certified Payroll Processor (CCP) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience required specifically related to payroll & administration.
  • Previous experience reporting multi-state payroll, exempt, non-exempt and bargaining employees.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment and adapt easily; work flexibly, effectively and willingly as part of a team.
  • Experience in process improvements and workflow management.
  • Experience with ADP HRIS, Time & Attendance and Payroll reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
