About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
This position can be filled in any approved FirstEnergy location and reports to the Supervisor, HR Solutions Configuration.
The Solutions Configuration Specialist is responsible for providing technical and configuration support for the Empower solution (Oracle Human Capital Management [HCM]) and other technologies that support key HR processes. This support includes quarterly releases, enhancements, integration support, testing, and issue resolution. This position will partner with HR, IT, and other business units to prioritize, configure, and test changes and enhancements in a timely manner in accordance with the Empower release schedule. The candidate ensures that operational, procedural, and regulatory requirements are met, such as SOX Compliance. This position will be responsible for Tier 3 technical support for the HR Help Desk and assist in maintenance of the Knowledge Base articles as needed. This position will partner with other departments across HR to fully support the Empower solution and strategic HR priorities and projects. Seamless coordination between this position and other HR and business units is required to successfully deliver results.
Responsibilities Include:
- Works with the Functional Owners, IT and other stakeholders on development of functional and technical specifications for product enhancements and developing and executing test plans to ensure system accuracy and stability
- Works with the Functional Owners, IT and other stakeholders to identify and troubleshoot system issues and communicate across stakeholders
- Executes design, development, and maintenance of Empower solution to meet business needs based on defined specifications
- Revises the Empower configuration workbook to ensure updates are documented as releases and enhancements are applied
- Executes change requests, service requests and ensures critical issues are resolved timely
- Reviews Oracle Cloud Releases to understand changes and functionality being introduced or retired
- Assesses business processes for improvement opportunities and helps develop technical solutions
- Champions innovation and change to drive continuous improvement.
- Provides input to the workplan in alignment with release schedule to support the HR operational needs and technology strategy
- Participates in cross-training to ensure long term solution sustainment
- Ensures high level of reliability and availability of the solution and integrations to other critical business processes and systems
- Ensures that change management and Separation of Duties procedures are properly followed in accordance with SOX controls
- Maintains strong relationships with HR Centers of Expertise and FirstEnergy business units, to enable effective prioritization of work based on established business needs
- Preserves assets and complies with regulatory requirements by implementing security and control structures

Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree required with minimum 7 years relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or GED and a minimum 10 years relevant experience at progressively increasing levels of responsibility is required. Relevant experience includes experience in HRIS or IT related field or work with HR or IT system management
- Experience leading multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and understanding of project management principles and process improvement techniques
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Solutions, specifically HCM, and the business processes and technologies used to support the solution preferred
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud architecture, integrations and the transport process preferred
