We have recently embarked on a Digital transformation journey where we are reimaging the way we work and serve our users. Our projects benefit the community by aiding in providing safe, reliable electricity to everyone:

  • Customer: create analytics to improve customer satisfaction along the customer journey for a lifetime as they move-in to a residence, pay their bill and move to new residences.
  • Transmission & Distribution: develop algorithms to detect asset failures, reduce outages and provide reliable electricity to customers.
  • Smart Meter: provide customers with the electric usage they need to make smart decisions about their home as well as reduce threats and theft in the electric system.

 

What you’ll do:

 

As a Scrum Master at FirstEnergy you will lead the Agile scrum process for digital squads developing analytical and journey products. You will work on digital scrum squads with a Product Owner to deliver incremental value each sprint for the products and coach others on Agile methodologies.  Your primary responsibility is to help the self-organizing, self-managing squad achieve its goals.  You will remove impediments and act as a shield from external distractions, create a safe working environment and you are an innovator who constantly seeks continuous improvement.  Furthermore,

  • You will build and coach high performing Digital Squads in developing analytical or journey products
  • You will look for ways to strengthen digital squads, IT teams and Business teams understanding of Agile / Scrum concepts and principles
  • You will ensure squad actions are aligned with the vision of working on the digital teams
  • You will ensure Scrum practices are used and improved within and across squads
  • You will bring transparency to the Business and IT organization about development and grow trust between Business, IT and the Digital Squads
  • You will identify trade-offs between the short and long term benefits to drive shared vision between the digital squad and product owner
  • You will foster a continuous learning environment helping squads to inspect & adapt

 

 

What You Will Need to be Qualified:

 

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science or another related field. In lieu of a degree, you have 4 years of related experience.
    • Related experience includes working in an Agile and Scrum environment.  If you are a Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) that is a plus. 
  • You are assertive, with the confidence to be voice of authority and not afraid to do what is best for the team
  • You bring a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around you.
  • You are knowledgeable about various Agile methodologies and experienced in coaching Scrum teams.
  • You have excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to coach and mentor all roles on a Scrum team.
  • You have technical experience working with various tech stacks and coaching development teams
  • You are willing to travel throughout the organization and service territory and work extended hours, as required
