The Strategic Subscription Services Manager contributes to the development and management of a portfolio of contract services and subscriptions and improving the productivity and profitability of the FE Home business.  The Strategic Subscription Services Manager contributes to development of team portfolio roadmaps, Profit & Loss ownership for the managed business line(s), product lifecycle management, pricing management and portfolio promotion and offer strategies.  Additionally, this individual manages market pricing and promotional terms, and partners with marketing and other functions to increase sales of their portfolio.  This position requires thorough understanding of the current competitive landscape and industry best-practices in the marketing and selling of contract services and subscriptions.

 

This individual works collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the organization and understands how varying perspectives fit into a cohesive offering strategy.  Additionally, this individual oversees initiatives to improve department performance, efficiency, reduce risk, and ensures the competitiveness for each of their respective FE Home business unit free-enterprise offerings.  The Strategic Subscription Services Manager has extensive background knowledge in various contract service and subscription industries and go-to-market best practices and may possess other areas of experience to include consumer product goods, insurance or financial services, home warranty services, healthcare services, e-commerce marketplaces or other related regulatory and compliance industries.

 

Located at the General Office in Akron, Ohio, the Consumer Products & Services Team serves to increase customer satisfaction and earn new revenues for the company with innovative new products and services for both existing and new customers.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Assuming Product Leadership for the contract subscriptions and services business segment
  • Supporting overall department mission of increasing revenues and profitability to the company through the generation and commercialization of new services and packaged offer programs.
  • Being versed in contract service industries with deep understanding of customer acquisition and retention.
  • Being accountable for and actively managing the overall performance of a portfolio P&L driving decisions to improve performance including:
    • Pricing management
    • Management and creation of promotions and offers
    • Forecasting and budget development
    • Supporting development of program financials and commercialization plans
  • Providing strategic oversight and analytic support and insights to the team.
  • Leading development of portfolio forecasts to support business projections and vendor management.
  • Owning the development and oversight of product portfolio content to support the FE Home commerce platform.
  • Leveraging market, category, and consumer insights to inform portfolio decisions and guide strategic portfolio roadmap decisions.
  • Providing thought leadership and content development opportunities to support customer education through the learning blog.
  • Representing the brand, support the team mission, and understand the challenges of a large utility as it navigates with innovative free-enterprise business models.
  • Demonstrating the ability to solve ambiguous and highly complex problems.
  • Demonstrating the ability to exercise good judgement, attention to details, prioritize multiple tasks, and problem solve under the pressures of deadlines, resource constraints and changing priorities.
  • Projecting credibility, competence, and the ability to influence across the organization.
  • Reporting and present development progress to management at a required cadence.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Four-year degree in a related discipline and minimum 10 years relevant work experience is required.  An advanced degree or professional certification preferred. 
  • In lieu of degree, minimum 13 years relevant work experience is required.  Relevant experience includes in-depth background knowledge in service industries and go-to-market best practices.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and drive, self-starter. Not afraid to ask questions or to make a mistake.
  • Expertise leveraging/synthesizing competitor, technology, and other marketplace insights to draw out implications to support the team’s overall mission and goals.
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines. Excellent analytical ability. Demonstrate the ability to make decisions without having all the facts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to tell a story through a work product tailored to a specific audience which may include Senior Executive Management.
  • Possess a desire to work in a dynamic environment that provides the opportunity for wide range thinking and exploration against loosely defined rules or ever evolving ones.
  • Proven ability to influence others and drive meaningful change results.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment and manage progress for multiple activities at once.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with multiple levels within the company and with external contacts such as customers and potential or existing suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint.)
  • Act with integrity and ethics.
