About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

The Regulatory Compliance & Reporting group works to grow and sustain a culture of compliance within    FirstEnergy's operating companies. The team interacts with the FEU operating companies by implementing an infrastructure that monitors compliance, analyzes gaps between state rules and existing processes, provides risk assessments, regulatory advice and timely reporting. This position reports to the Manager, Regulatory Compliance & Reporting.  The Supervisor, Regulatory Reporting is responsible for providing direction, leadership and guidance to the individuals on the Regulatory Reporting team.  Preferred reporting locations are Akron, OH or Greensburg, PA, however the group is currently working remote.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize, oversee, and coordinate regulatory reporting on behalf of FEU as well as other activities assigned within the Regulatory Compliance & Reporting organization
  • Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
  • Directing and supervising employee’s day to day activities. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring staffing levels, approving vacation, and assigning additional work as needed
  • Promoting a diverse and inclusive collaborative work environment by encouraging open, honest, direct and ongoing conversations among all team members
  • Counseling employees, recommending corrective actions required to meet performance standards and acknowledging good work and work habits
  • Coordinating training and development opportunities for employees to meet goals and providing coaching as appropriate
  • Monitoring work volumes and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Monitoring work practices to identify and implement process improvements for the effective, efficient, productive, and cost-effective performance of duties
  • Participating in writing, developing, communicating, and implementing guidelines and procedures.
  • Hiring and training additional staff as appropriate
  • Participating or leading special projects or assignments, as requested, and performing other work as directed
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices to support FE Utilities' ability to comply with all regulatory commitments
  • Reviewing and interpreting rules generated from regulatory entities such as state commissions
  • Monitoring, reviewing and analyzing gaps between state rules and existing processes and making recommendations for gap closure
  • Guiding employees during Commission required storm or outage reporting
  • Providing critical support to the operating companies, FE Utilities leadership, Rates & Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Government / External Affairs and Communications for FE Utilities state regulatory topics

 

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related discipline required
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience required. Relevant experience will include managing multiple, simultaneous projects, strong organizational planning skills, the ability to coach and motivate others and work as a collaborative team and independent decision making.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Works safely according to company policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage office employees, conduct check in conversations, and coach staff for development
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, work prioritization, time management and coaching skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to present and interact with various levels of FirstEnergy leadership
  • Project management and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Questioning attitude and willingness to continue to learn and strengthen relationships
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Working knowledge of CREWS, SAP, GIS, PowerOn and querying tools (i.e. Toad) is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours during storms or large outages which could include evening and weekend hours
