The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.
Summary
This position supervises and coordinates the IT operations and staff responsible for the development, enhancement, integration, and support of the Human Resources and Supply Chain business units. The position ensures that operational, procedural, and regulatory requirements are met. In addition, it is a communication point between IT and the business portfolio to ensure delivery on critical technology initiatives. The successful candidate will also perform normal supervisor duties with ownership oversight of areas including budgeting, staffing, project management, work management, and vendor management. The position conducts Performance and Talent Management for those individuals residing in their organization. Finally, seamless coordination between this position and other IT organizations is required to successfully deliver Human Resources and Supply Chain business solutions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing daily supervision and guidance to the Human Resources and Supply Chain groups that are responsible for the business systems utilized by Corporate HR, Field HR, Employees, Managers, Corporate SC, Procurement, Warehousing
- Ensures high level of reliability and availability of these systems
- Leads a high performing team, manages a variety of technologies
- Leads numerous projects and activities simultaneously, ensuring the correct priorities are assigned and initiatives are completed within defined boundaries regarding scope, schedule, and budget
- Participates in the overall planning for IT, and communicates technology changes, opportunities, and constraints to a business-oriented audience
- Directs personnel actions in accordance with the company’s guidelines and procedures
- Performs regular check-in conversations with employees and provides coaching and feedback on priorities, performance, expectations, professional development, and career growth. Develops cohesive and effective teams.
- Ensures that change management procedures are properly followed, with an emphasis on applications that impact company financials.
- Maintains strong relationships with FirstEnergy business units, to enable effective prioritization of work based on established business needs
- Maintains strict adherence to FirstEnergy safety programs and guidelines

- Available during non-standard hours when project schedules and maintenance issues dictate
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, or Business-related field with 7 years of related experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of related experience required. Industry certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Related experience includes, but is not limited to: Experience working on projects integrating complex systems, networks, or applications
- Experience developing and implementing operational plans, which may include budgets, processes, and five-year road maps
- Experience leading a team including coaching personnel is required
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts with a focus on configuration management, change management, and incident management
- Experience developing employees to retain a diverse workforce
- Ability to observe employees, assess performance, and provide feedback
- Ability to create development plans for employees to gain necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform their duties
- Ability to plan for and support employees in career development opportunities
- Strong interpersonal, communications, presentation, training & mentoring skills
- Work effectively in a virtual team environment
- Previous experience supporting a regulatory environment including compliance controls (ie: Sarbanes Oxley) is preferred
