Transmission Operations Specialists are responsible for managing Tools and Technology projects from initiation through completion. Employees in the entry level of the job family apply acquired education and experience to work situations and exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments. They provide support to management and higher level professionals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical services initiatives to the Transmission Operations department.
  • Developing procedures, guidelines, specifications and user guides.
  • Developing specifications for new tools and technology.
  • Ensuring project results meet requirements.
  • Researching and assessing emerging technologies.
  • Providing technical support to control centers.
  • Administering databases used to support the control centers.
  • Developing and analyzing regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to work processes.
  • Recommending and implementing solutions to moderately complex issues and assignments.
  • Providing assistance during emergencies and storm related activities.



Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field preferred with 0-3 years of relevant experience.  In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate Degree in a related technical field with 5 years relevant work experience.  Relevant experience may include operations support, developing procedures, guidelines, specifications and user guides. developing specifications for new tools and technology, researching and assessing emerging technologie or relay/ protection experience.
  • Basic understanding of control center equipment and technology
  • Basic written and oral communications skills.
  • Basic teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities involving basic problems; exercise sound judgment.
  • Basic leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, FileNet, SOR, EDOA, EMS, eDART
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
