About the Opportunity

This is an open position at the Yards Creek Generating Station with Jersey Central Power & Light, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FO]


This plant engineer position is located at Blairstown, New Jersey.


Responsibilities include:


  • Working safely, controlling exposure, and providing safety oversight
  • Providing day to day troubleshooting of emergent plant issues
  • Developing and recommending equipment and work process improvements
  • Developing project scope, specifications, execution plans, contract administration, and material procurement as required for plant hydro technicians, mobile maintenance and contractors
  • Preparing and maintaining outage and project records
  • Available to work extended and off hours as plant needs require including callouts.
  • Filling-in as the plant supervisor on an as needed basis
  • Working collaboratively with plant personnel, other FirstEnergy employees, and contractors




  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school is required. Electrical Engineering is preferred; mechanical engineering will be considered. Electronic(s) Engineering Technology
    degree requires a PE license to meet position requirements.
  • Able to apply technical skills to solve practical problems.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focused.
  • Results-oriented and a team player; committed to good engineering and business practices.
