The Director, Supply Chain Materials Operations provides strategic leadership and vision for FirstEnergy’s Supply Chain (SC) Material Operations team.  The director provides leadership to the warehousing and logistics functions, which ensures the movement and accuracy of material to support efficient and effective operations.   This individual guides the SC Material Operations leadership team in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and processes to ensure the acquisition and timely flow of materials.

 

The position reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain. The preferred location is Ohio but can be sited within the FirstEnergy service territory in PA, WV, MD, or NJ.  The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.  This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.  

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading coordination among Warehousing, Utility Operations, and Procurement to ensure integrated objectives and coordinated execution with respect to material needs, logistics, and inventory levels 
  • Ensuring the safety of staff and public in all aspects of work to preserve emergency readiness
  • Working closely with Operations to forecast material demand and sustain high service levels and fill rates
  • Responding to regulatory requests related to inventory, materials and investment management, warehousing & logistics, field stores operations, and recovery
  • Working closely with Supply Chain peers to develop strategies for continual material supply and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrating a record of developing and growing talent within the workforce
  • Upholding the accuracy of inventory records
  • Executing investment recovery processes for scrap and equipment refurbishment
  • Owning the overall business plan and budget development
  • Setting inventory strategies to balance operational and financial needs
  • Interpreting, thoroughly understanding, and applying labor agreements, HR policies, and other company regulations fairly and equitably for all employees
  • Ensuring adherence to corporate policies; in particular, enforces policies around inventory and capital spares
  • Leading responses for materials and logistics for FirstEnergy during emergency situations
  • Creating value in the FirstEnergy supply chain with efficiency and cost saving measures to reduce total cost of ownership
  • Managing responses to regulatory audits and interrogatories (e.g., FERC, BPU, PaPUC, etc.)

 

Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related discipline and minimum 10 years’ related work experience.  Related work experience includes warehousing, materials management, and operational logistics management
  • Minimum 5 years of bargaining unit supervisory experience is required; demonstrated track record of facilitating agreements with union leadership
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in electric utility materials management preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of warehousing, logistics and inventory management practices
  • Strong knowledge of inventory forecasting and planning methods such as MRP and reorder point planning
  • Executive presence and effective presentation skills
  • Highly motivated and capable of influencing change in an organization with minimal supervision
  • Strong strategic planning, financial and analytical skills
  • Appreciation for FirstEnergy’s core values and behaviors along with demonstrated experience, mindset, and strong disposition toward transparency; unassailable integrity and trustworthiness
  • Demonstrated record of developing and growing talent
