About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Cleveland Electric Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [CEI]

 

This position is located within the Cleveland (CEI) Distribution Control Center at the North Region Headquarters.

 

Standardized Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Employees are proficient in basic skills and occasionally require assistance in advanced functionality; Understand business units’ technical and/or business processes; Possess intermediate troubleshooting skills.
  • Provide a high level of service, continuous support, and proactive involvement surrounding technical subject matter to leadership and fellow peers
  • Conduct a variety of technical research and analysis; Interpret results; Assist in implementation activities (when necessary)
  • Maintain a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements
  • Contribute to solutions by taking an initiative to developing alternatives and recommendations
  • Offer ideas and suggestions to improve moderately complex technical processes and/or projects
  • Provide sound customer service by exceeding customer needs
  • Actively seek ways to build challenge and add value within scope of assignments
  • Consistently anticipate and deliver results on a variety of job-specific subject matter
  • Provide advice, education, and encouragement to others

 

Business-Unit Specific Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provide outage review and assistance with operational statistics
  • Provide storm support as required
  • Maintain weekly and monthly operational reports
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other engineers
  • Assist with training as needed
  • Provide support to daily operations within the DCC
  • Provide support to the Outage Coordinators
  • Provide support to the Field Operations, Lines, Substation, Underground, etc.
  • Attend weekly and monthly reliability meetings as requested

 

Standardized Summary of Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Position level requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of engineering experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.  SAP a plus
  • In-depth understanding of pertinent technical products and/or services and of customer needs and expectations
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
  • Possess a sound knowledge of various researching techniques
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results
  • Intermediate-level analytical and technical abilities
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy Corp.
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels

 

Business-Unit Specific Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with PowerOn, GIS, EDOA, CYME, TOAD, SAP, AutoCAD, PI, and SCADA preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to travel with position when needed to.
  • Knowledge of an Electrical Distribution System preferred but not required.
