About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Utilities, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

 

This position can be located in Greensburg, PA, Reading, PA, Akron, OH or another FirstEnergy location.

 

The Portfolio Development Team is tasked with the identification and prioritization of capital distribution and transmission projects for future years.  This team identifies capital projects based on operational and/or regulatory needs and works with a variety of internal and external FirstEnergy resources to forecast the various components that comprise the capital portfolio (i.e. material identification, budget/estimate forecasting, resource identification and forecasting, outage management, etc.).  The team focuses on active transmission projects and the management of the projects’ finances, scopes and in-service dates.  The team also addresses emergent project work to ensure the active portfolios remain on budget and schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting development of the capital portfolio (5-year portfolio).
  • Assisting in the development of detailed project scopes for all of the FirstEnergy Transmission (FET) portfolio projects.
  • Initiating, recommending, and assisting in the development of the capital portfolio for reliability related projects. Supporting the project prioritization and presentation efforts for FET.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders to coordinate efforts to meet overall portfolio goals and supporting budgeting/forecasting and rate filing timelines.
  • Managing the current year portfolio and the emergent projects entering the portfolio.
  • Maintaining relative priority of projects to accommodate off-budget cycle requests.
  • Forecasting active portfolio requirements associated with budgets, resources (labor, equipment and material), and schedules.
  • Providing technical challenge/guidance for all FEU Region’s portfolio development.
  • Meeting with FEU and FET stakeholders to identify active capital portfolio progress, forecasting of schedules and budgets, identification of project delays, accelerations, additions or deletions from the portfolio.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil or Mechanical) from an ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience 
  • Demonstrated abilities of effective analytical and reasoning capabilities. Refined oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively structure and confidently present information to peers and leadership.
  • Ability to work on assignments that may be broad in nature involving the compilation, preparation, and analysis of various statistical/analytical data, reports, statements, studies, or projects.
  • Effectively work in unison with fellow team members.
  • Ability to learn Qlikview reporting and SAP data mining.
  • Basic researching skills required.
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results.
  • Ability to deliver high quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, customer focused, and results oriented.
  • Must have knowledge of PC software applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal staff at all levels, customers, and external contacts.
  • Must have demonstrated analytical skills to effectively resolve technical problems.
  • Need to be willing to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects and the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Must be highly motivated and have demonstrated experience working independently with a high level of productivity.
  • Must have the ability to support numerous locations.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the service area and work extra and irregular hours.
