About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Utilities, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

 

Multiple positions are available and can be located within Toledo Edison, Illuminating Company, Ohio Edison and Mon Power territories.

 

This position coordinates and supervises pre-construction, construction and post-construction activities for distribution / transmission / substation projects.


Responsibilities
 

  • This position will generally be assigned to coordinate and supervise smaller to medium size projects or support larger projects under the supervision of more experienced Construction Site Coordinators.
  • Fostering a high performing safety culture through personal conduct and utilization of human performance principles.
  • Participating with the project team to develop contractor bid packages.
  • Participating in pre-bid meetings, document, and follow up on the action points.                                                                          
  • Assisting in performing constructability review with site walkdown, as needed.
  • Coordinating material requests, need date & location, delivery and verification of materials at the project site, staging, and monitoring for contractor use.
  • Coordinating staking of structures, wetlands and vegetation as part of the project’s scope assessment.
  • Ensuring adherance to safety and quality standards and specifications.
  • Inspecting work performed by contractors against design and construction standards. 
  • Documenting project site meetings with contractors that address issues such as safety, performance, quality control, or adherence to construction schedules.                     
  • Ensuring all the stakeholders have necessary permit copies.
  • Maintaining digital/printed copy of the red line drawings of the project site.
  • Participating in contractor evaluation, project review meetings and meetings concerning “lessons learned”

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, or equivalent in Construction technology, or 3 years experience in the construction field.
  • Ability to clearly understand the scope for each assigned project including the problem/need, the constraints around the scope, and other relevant information.
  • Understand how schedules are developed and utilized including CPM calculations, float, predecessors. Proactively manages schedule tasks for all construction activities on assigned projects and report on schedule progress.
  • Understand how site actions impact project costs. Proactively understand all estimate components for a project, and the relationship of estimate to the project Schedule of Values.
  • Understands Quality Standards and specific quality requirements as defined for the outcome of construction activities. Clearly articulates quality requirements for all vendors and others working on construction activities.
  • Understand resource needs on assigned projects.
  • Understands the typical risks on a transmission construction project. Implement a construction risk management plan for anticipated construction risks.
  • Understands and implements the project/organization communication policies and plans.
  • Understand company values, all safety requirements and think safety in all actions and decisions on and off site.
  • Monitor, review and reflect on personal effectiveness in promoting a safety culture — frequently use various sources of information to gain feedback on the effectiveness of culture actions and other safety-related behaviors.
  • Aware of procedures and policies designed to comply with ethics standards. Consistently applies ethic guidelines in working with stakeholders (external and internal).
  • Show persistence in own actions.
  • Works independently and competes assignments without supervision.
  • Takes accountability for own tasks and for role responsibilities.
