About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.[PO]

 

Performs duties in connection with the safe and efficient installation, removal, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized electric transmission and distribution lines and associated equipment including company and customer-owned service facilities. Performs other work as assigned.


Qualifications


The following minimum qualifications and requirements must be met in order to obtain and retain this
classification:


1. Knowledge of FirstEnergy's systems is highly desired.

2. Knowledge and Skills: Ability to meet job knowledge and skill requirements will be determined by company interviews and tests. Must have attended school for applicable classification, successfully completed required examination, and be able to safely and satisfactorily perform the representative duties of the assigned classification.
3. Safety: Ability to work safely and follow safety rules and regulations including those applicable to work on or near energized lines and equipment. Ability to direct and perform work involved in properly applying rubber goods and other protective devices required to work safely on or near energized lines and equipment.
4. Physical: Must have demonstrated the ability to climb and work safely and with self-confidence from poles and structures. Ability to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
5. Mental: Mental ability to learn and perform the duties involved in highest progression of lineman job series. Mental alertness to permit working on or near energized lines and equipment.
6. Clerical: Ability to prepare legible and accurate reports.
7. Work Characteristics: Meet company standards in regard to physical fitness, personal conduct and appearance, attendance, work performance, safety practices, and supervision required.
8. Special: Possess an appropriate state motor vehicle operator's license and be able to safely operate motor vehicles. Demonstrate a satisfactory knowledge of state motor vehicle code as it applies to the operation of trucks and trailers on public highways. Must be able to contact customers in a tactful and courteous manner. EMPLOYEE MUST MEET THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT. MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

 

WORKING HOURS: Normally 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Overtime as required.
