About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [DBN]

 

The Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer position is located at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading resolution of engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance
  • Preparing calculations, technical reports, and presentations
  • Providing corrective action or work management database tracking, or issuance of unit work documents
  • Preparing and reviewing 10CFR50.59 documentation
  • Ensuring changes to design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approved.
  • Consistently meeting and demonstrating FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company Engineering Principles and Expectations
  • Interfacing and coordinating activities performed by outside engineering/consulting service companies
  • Providing support for interface with regulatory and oversight agencies
  • Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation of required plant operations Developing, maintaining, and using design basis accident analysis to support design basis regulations and applications
  • Performing thermal hydraulic calculations using industry standard software program.
  • Performing assigned Emergency Response Organization activities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
  • Experience related to Nuclear Power Plant Design, licensing basis documents, and the processes used to maintain them is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable about technical matters related to plant safety and other engineering and scientific support aspects including thermal hydraulic mechanical systems / component design and analysis (hydraulic analysis, heat transfer, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience as well as the ability to perform assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Reside within site-specific ERO response time.
