About the Opportunity

 

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [DBN]

This position is responsible for applying the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process in implementing and delivering Operations training programs at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing and conducting Operations training for accredited licensed operator training programs.
  • Examining and evaluating student performance during training and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Conducting student counseling and tutoring in accordance with company policies.
  • Interacting professionally with other plant departments and outside agencies to ensure quality training, efficient operation of plant equipment and the preparation of reports for company management.
  • Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation of required training and plant operations.
  • Performing needs analysis and designing and developing training material in accordance with applicable administrative procedures.
  • Ensuring the SAT is satisfied as described in the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) ACAD documents. Presenting classroom and simulator training using approved lesson material to current license holders and initial license candidates.
  • Instructing Initial and Continuing License Training classes at the Reactor Operator (RO) and Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) levels.
  • Developing and implementing initial license and licensed operator requalification quizzes and examinations in accordance with established requirements.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Operations or Operations Training in the nuclear industry is required. Experience on a Babcock & Wilcox Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) is highly preferred.
  • Holding or having previously held an RO license or SRO license or certification is required.
  • Should possess current or previous Staff level experience such as serving as a project lead, project manager or program manager in a training or technical position.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management across the plant's organization.
  • Must possess the coordination skills necessary to independently schedule various training courses for multiple station departments.
  • Must reside within site specific ERO response time.
