The Electrical Engineer is a member of the Rapid Response Engineering Team at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio. This group serves as the first responders for most day-to-day demands of the Engineering organization.  The goal is to provide timely response to the day-to-day emergent needs of the Operations and Maintenance departments, while protecting the core duties of the other Engineering organizations.  The typical duration of engineering support activities performed by Rapid Response Engineering should not exceed 40 hours.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing electrical engineering specific solutions in support of emergent plant activities, activities that are in the 12-week work management schedule, and for refueling outages for Balance of Plant (BOP) and Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) structures, systems and components for a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear power generating facility.
  • Preparing emergent engineering evaluations, temporary modifications and engineering change packages, equivalent replacement evaluations, non-complex engineering calculations, and vendor technical manual updates in support of the 12-week work management schedule.
  • Updating design and licensing basis documentation, including design drawings, vendor drawings, configuration management database and the Updated Safety Analysis Report (USAR).
  • Performing independent reviews and design verification of peer work products.
  • Completing 10CFR50.59 documentation, preparation, and verification.
  • Developing and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program related to equipment problems, plant improvements and design basis documentation.
  • Providing technical support for shop maintenance including resolving complex technical questions, providing input to the contents of Maintenance procedures and resolving complex technical questions related to plant modification implementation.
  • Participating in Problem Solving and Decision, Making teams, troubleshooting efforts and developing repair strategies for plant equipment.
  • Completing activities in accordance with industry codes and standards, and FENOC Fleet practices, policies and procedures.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering [FE] certificate is preferred. 
  • Possess sound research, analytical and technical abilities.
  • Work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with little Supervisory involvement.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make technical presentations to all levels of management.
  • Deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
  • Work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary.
  • Reside within site-specific ERO response time.
