About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [SC00].


As a participant in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, you will be cultivating professional skills and perform professional level work at FirstEnergy. Each participant will receive on-the-job training, and challenging assignments to refine skills and round out competencies.


The Cyber Compliance Policy Analyst maintains and supports various FirstEnergy regulatory compliance programs, notably NERC CIP, related to the security of the bulk electric system. A strong ability to read interpretively and write clearly and concisely is needed. This position’s base reporting location is in Wadsworth Township, Ohio, and reports to the Supervisor of Cyber Security. The Cyber Compliance Policy Analyst works across all FirstEnergy subsidiaries and business units to protect the electric grid of First Energy.


This position is not a "hands-on" technical position. You will be not be providing incident response support. This position is for a candidate who can write clearly and concisely and has a strong ability to read interpretively, providing explanations, interpretations and guidance to stakeholders and teammates. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining technical documents and procedures, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with IT staff to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Responsibilities include:

• Support FirstEnergy’s compliance with NERC CIP, protecting the Bulk Electric System

• In conjunction with the team and other stakeholders, assist in the development and maintenance of compliance programs, procedures, and other strategies that effectively protect cyber assets while ensuring reliable and consistent system operations

• Review compliance evidence for alignment with documented processes and procedures

• Support compliance self-certification and data submittal activities

• Maintain department SharePoint content



• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university/college with a major in some type of computer information systems (CIS), information technology, or similar degree program. Candidates in a Business or English degree program with a focus on technical or business writing will also be considered.

• Must have a graduation date not early than December 2022 (Graduation date MUST be listed on resume)

• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (GPA MUST be listed on resume)

• Must have the ability to work without sponsorship (now or in the future)
